This is the Tanglewood FX3WB, a braided jack lead in black and white. It is 3 metres long and has straight jacks at both ends. If you like the braided look but want the standard straight plug on each end, this is the version to choose.

Look and feel

The jacket is woven braid in black and white, so it looks quite different from a plain rubber lead. On a stage floor or a pedalboard the pattern makes it easy to see where your cable runs. It is the kind of detail that makes a rig look planned.

Braided cable also tends to feel a little more textured in the hand than smooth rubber. It belongs to the Tanglewood Flex cables series, which is built around leads that coil and move easily.

Straight to straight

Both plugs are straight. That is the standard layout and it works with most guitars, amps and pedals. If your guitar has a face-mounted input, a straight plug is usually all you need. You can also flip the cable either way round, since both ends are the same.

It is a sensible choice if you share a rehearsal space or play in a band, because a distinct pattern makes it simple to spot which lead is yours when everyone packs up. It also works well as a spare, so a failed cable never ends your evening early. Keep it coiled loosely and it should last well.
