Tanglewood Northstar Pro Electric Guitars

Tanglewood Northstar Pro solid body electric guitars

The Tanglewood Northstar Pro series is a range of electric guitars that keeps prices between £199 and £299. If you want a solid body electric guitar that looks the part without a big spend, this is a sensible place to start. The wider Tanglewood Northstar family sits alongside it, and the Northstar Littlestar range covers smaller players.

Shapes in the range

Each model number points to a different body. The NSP1CB and NSP1CF are double cutaway guitars at £199, and the NSP2BK and NSP2NA are single cutaway guitars at the same price. The NSP4CB has an offset body and costs £229. Offsets sit a little differently on the knee and strap, so it is worth thinking about how you play.

At the top of the range, the NSP3BL and NSP3GT are double cutaway guitars with arched tops, both £299. The NSP5BKG is a semi acoustic, for anyone who likes a hollower look and feel. You can browse more of that style in our semi-acoustic and archtop guitars.

Choosing your Northstar Pro

• Single or double cutaway: both give access to the upper frets. Pick the outline you like looking at, because you will be holding it for hours.
• Arched top or flat: the NSP3 models add the arched top for a more sculpted look at £299.
• Budget: most of the range is £199 or £229, so it is easy to add a lead and amp and keep the guitar under £300. See all guitars under £300.

Start playing

An electric needs a few extras. Pick up a guitar cable, a set of guitar strings to keep spare, and a tuner. Our electric guitars page shows the full choice if you want to compare shapes across series.

Not sure which finish suits you? The product codes end in letters that mark the colour, so the NSP1CB and NSP1CF are the same shape in different finishes. Open any model page to see the pictures and details. Every order comes with free UK delivery.

Who the Northstar Pro suits

This range is aimed at players who want a dependable electric guitar at a friendly price. Beginners get a full size instrument they can grow with, and experienced players can use one as a spare or a second guitar for a different sound. Because several models share a price, the decision usually comes down to shape and finish rather than cost. Try to picture the guitar on a strap, and think about the music you play most. A double cutaway looks classic, an offset has a retro feel, and the semi acoustic suits relaxed, mellow playing at home.
