Ukulele for sale: Tanglewood Tiare range

The ukulele is small, cheerful and quick to learn, which is why it suits beginners, families and players who want something easy to carry. All 15 models here belong to the Tanglewood Tiare family, priced from £69 to £269, and each size has its own character.

Soprano, concert, tenor and baritone

The soprano ukulele is the smallest and the most traditional, with a bright, plucky sound. The TWT1 is our soprano at £69 with a mahogany top. The concert ukulele is a little larger, with more room for the fingers and a fuller tone. The tenor ukulele is larger again and gives more depth. The baritone ukulele is the biggest and the deepest, and the TWT 20 at £169 is our baritone model.

Woods and finishes

The Tiare Concert models show how much variety is on offer. The TWT 3 has black walnut and the TWT 4 has spruce, both at £89. Move up to the TWT 6 in flame mahogany or the TWT 8 in koa at £129, or the TWT 11 with a solid cedar top at £199. See the full Tanglewood Tiare Concert range for more.

Electric ukulele and electro-acoustic options

If you want to plug in, look at the electro-acoustic models, which carry an E or electro-acoustic in the name. The TWT 19 tenor is £129, the TWT 15 E is £229, and the 8 string TWT32E in koa is £269. Our electro-acoustic ukuleles page lists all six.

Something a little different

The TWT31 is an 8 string tenor ukulele and the TWT33 is a 5 string tenor, both £169. The doubled strings give a shimmering, chorus-like sound.

Which ukulele instrument should you buy?

  • First instrument or gift: a soprano or concert model at £69 to £89.
  • Bigger hands or a fuller sound: a tenor from £129.
  • Playing on stage: any electro-acoustic model.

Whichever size you pick, the Tiare range shares the same approach: sensible prices, a choice of woods, and a few unusual options. Check each model page for its finish, and see the individual series pages for Tiare Soprano, Tiare Tenor and Tiare Baritone if you want to compare sizes side by side.
