Electro Acoustic Guitars

Tanglewood Electro Acoustic Guitar Collection

An electro acoustic guitar plays like a normal acoustic but has a pickup built in, so you can plug into an amp or PA. This page lists 125 models from £199 to £1,999, so there is a good electro acoustic guitar for most budgets.

Starting Out from £199

The Crossroads TC3E and Crossroads TWCROE orchestra models are £199 each and have mahogany tops. They are an easy way to get a Tanglewood electro acoustic guitar without spending much. Read about the Crossroads TC series for more.

Mid-Range Choices

Around £300 to £550 you will find the Roadster X TRX4CE at £299, the Reunion Pro Super Folk cutaways at £399 and the Winterleaf range from £449. The Winterleaf Carbon TW4CECBN at £399 uses a genuine carbon fibre top. The Winterleaf Blonde TW4CEBLA is a blue finish at £479.

Premium Models

At the top end, the Heritage TW1000HSRCE dreadnought cutaway is £1,499, and the Sundance Reserve TW45RE Super Folk in solid cedar is £1,199. Prefer something smaller? The Java TJ8E parlour is £649, and the Rosewood Smart TRS1E is a Mini Folk at £549.

What to Look For

• Body shape: dreadnought for volume, orchestra or parlour for comfort.
• A cutaway for access to the upper frets.
• A solid top if you want better tone as the guitar ages.

Browsing Tips for a Large Range

With 125 guitars on this page, it helps to narrow things down by series. Winterleaf has the most variety, including thinline, carbon and blonde versions. Sundance Historic is a good pick if you want a vintage style with a solid spruce top. For smaller bodies, try our small and travel guitars page.

Setting Up to Play

You will need a lead and an amplifier or PA to get the benefit of the pickup. Our acoustic guitar amplifiers and guitar cables pages have what you need to get started.

Why Choose Tanglewood for Plug-In Playing

Tanglewood builds electro acoustic guitars across many shapes and price points, so you can stay with one brand as your playing develops. Many of the models here have a cutaway, which makes the upper frets easier to reach. Others, like the Union and Azure ranges, are worth a look through the Union page if you want a different style. Every guitar on this page can be ordered online with free UK delivery.

Our solid top acoustic guitars page narrows the choice by wood, and left-handed guitars has a separate collection. Delivery is free across the UK.
