Picking the right one

Budget is the first filter. At £129 you get a simple acoustic that is ideal for the rucksack. Pay a little more and the electro versions let you plug in at home. The £549 Mini Folk guitars suit people who want a solid top in a very small body, so the sound holds up better than you might expect.

The Travel Folk and Travel Super Folk shapes keep a fuller scale feel than the mini models, so chord shapes feel familiar if you already play a bigger guitar. The Mini Folk guitars are the most compact of all and sit comfortably on a lap. Most of the electro versions can be plugged in for practice or a small gig, which is handy when you are away from home. Think too about how you will carry it. A gig bag makes a big difference to a travel guitar, and our guitar gig bags are a sensible add on.
