Tanglewood TC2 Crossroads Travel Acoustic Guitar, Whiskey Burst Satin

A small mahogany guitar to take anywhere

Holidays, camping trips and cramped flats are where the Tanglewood TC2 earns its place. This travel acoustic guitar from the Crossroads TC series has a compact body and mahogany throughout, so you get a real wooden acoustic sound in a size that is easy to carry and store.

Small body, real guitar

The TC2 uses a dedicated travel shape rather than a full-size body. It is light and compact, so it slips into a car boot or sits by the sofa without taking over the room. Because it is a proper acoustic, not a practice toy, the strings, frets and fingerboard behave just like a bigger guitar. Anything you practise on it carries straight over to a full-size instrument.

• Easy to pack in a car for holidays and festivals
• Handy second guitar to leave out and pick up often
• A good size for younger players and smaller hands
• Acoustic only, so there is no battery to remember

Sound from mahogany

With mahogany for the top, back and sides, the TC2 has a warm, rounded voice. A smaller body naturally has less bass than a dreadnought, but the mahogany keeps the tone from sounding thin. Chords are sweet and even, and fingerpicked tunes come across clearly. It is ideal for quiet playing in a tent, a hotel room or late at night at home.

Finish and fingerboard

The Whiskey Burst Satin finish gives a vintage sunburst look and a smooth, low-sheen feel that copes well with knocks and handling on the road. The Eboncore fingerboard is dark and hard-wearing, a sensible choice on a guitar that will be played a lot.

If you want a fuller sound for home use, the TC3 orchestra model costs the same and is the next size up in the tanglewood crossroads range. If space is tight or you travel often, the TC2 is the one to choose. At £129 with free UK delivery, it is an inexpensive way to make sure you always have a guitar with you.
