Tanglewood Winterleaf Carbon guitar
Carbon fibre is an unusual material for an acoustic guitar, and the Tanglewood Winterleaf Carbon series puts it to work at a friendly price. The model is the Tanglewood TW4CECBN Winterleaf Carbon Super Folk Cutaway, at £399. It is an electro-acoustic with a genuine carbon fibre top.
Why choose a carbon fibre top?
Wood reacts to heat, damp and dry rooms. Carbon fibre is far less fussy. That makes this guitar a sensible choice if you travel, play outdoors, or keep your instrument somewhere that changes temperature through the year. You do not have to worry about it in the same way as you would a solid wood top.
If you would rather have a traditional wooden top, our solid top acoustic guitars are the place to look. Many players like to try both and see which sound they prefer.
Super Folk shape with a cutaway
A folk guitar is a little smaller than a dreadnought, so it feels easy to carry and easy to play. The Super Folk body adds some extra depth for a fuller sound, while the cutaway lets your hand reach the higher frets without a struggle. It is a good all round shape for strumming, fingerstyle and light lead work.
For a bigger body, see the dreadnought acoustic guitars. For something more compact, try the small and travel guitars.
Built in electronics
This model is fitted with electronics, so you can plug in for rehearsals, open mic nights and gigs. Browse the full electro-acoustic guitars collection to compare other options.

- Guitarists curious about carbon fibre, without a large spend.
Looking after it
Even a hard wearing guitar benefits from simple care. Wipe the strings after playing, change them when they sound dull, and keep the guitar in a case or bag when it is not in use. Our guitar care range and guitar strings make this easy, and a padded gig bag keeps it safe on the move.
The same range includes the Winterleaf Blonde and Winterleaf Exotic series, both with solid wood tops. Our guitars under £500 page has more ideas. Delivery is free across the UK.
