Tanglewood Winterleaf Exotic guitars
The Tanglewood Winterleaf Exotic series is the choice if you want a solid top electro-acoustic with plenty of body styles to pick from. Prices run from £549 to £599, and every model has built-in electronics. It sits alongside the main Tanglewood Winterleaf range.
Choose your shape
This series covers four shapes, so you can match the guitar to the way you play.
- Mini Folk: the TWX1EK is the most compact and comfortable, good for smaller players and travel.
- Super Folk: the TWX4CEK and TWX4CEFM give a balanced, full sound with a cutaway.
- Dreadnought: the TWX5CEK has the biggest body for strumming and volume.
- Grand Auditorium, Venetian: the TWX6 models, including the TWX6CEK, suit players who like a rounded, versatile sound.
Solid tops and finishes
Most of the range has a solid mahogany top, which gives a warm tone that works nicely for fingerpicking. The TWX4CEFM goes a different way with a solid spruce top, and spruce is often chosen for a brighter, clearer sound. At the top of the range, the TWX6CESMF has a solid quilt maple top at £599, which also stands out for its looks. The TWX6CEBW and TWX6CEPW offer more colour choices in the same shape.
How to choose
Start with comfort. A mini or Super Folk body is easier to hold for long sessions, while a dreadnought gives you more volume. Then pick the top wood for the tone you prefer. All models here are electro-acoustic, so you can plug into an amp or PA whenever you need to.
Value across the range
Because almost every model is priced at £549, the decision is mostly about shape and sound rather than cost. That makes comparing them simple. Pick the body that feels right on your lap, decide if you prefer the warmth of mahogany or the clarity of spruce, and you have your answer. Only the quilt maple model asks for a small step up to £599.
