Tanglewood TWX6CESMF Winterleaf Exotic Quilt Maple Honey Burst Electro-Acoustic Guitar

Quilt maple all round, finished in honey burst

The Tanglewood TWX6CESMF is built from quilt maple, top, back and sides, and finished in a honey burst gloss. This Winterleaf Exotic electro acoustic guitar is for players who like a sharp, focused sound and a finish that gets noticed.

Its honey burst gloss runs from a golden centre to darker edges, and the quilted pattern catches the light as you move. Maple is an unusual choice for the top of an acoustic, so this guitar will not look or sound like the usual spruce or mahogany models other players bring to a session. It is ready to plug in, so you can take it from the front room to a gig without adding anything.

A solid quilt maple top

Most guitars in this range pair a mahogany top with an exotic veneer. This one is different. The top is solid quilt maple, and the back and sides match. Maple tends to give a clean, defined sound, with clear notes and good separation when you play chords. The quilted figure in the grain is striking under the gloss.

Body and neck

The Grand Auditorium shape gives a balanced response that suits fingerpicking as well as strumming. A cutaway opens the upper frets for lead lines. The fingerboard is Eboncore, which feels smooth and stays consistent.

Plugging in

Tanglewood Premium Plus electronics give you amplified sound and a built-in tuner. It is easy to set up for stage use, rehearsals or recording.

How it compares

It costs £599, a little more than the mahogany topped TWX6CEBW, TWX6CEK and TWX6CEPW at £549. Choose it if you want maple's brighter, tighter character rather than the warmth of mahogany.
