Tanglewood TW4CEAVB Winterleaf Super Folk Cutaway Electro Acoustic Guitar, Autumn Vintage Gloss

Mellow mahogany in a mid-sized, easy-going body

Mid-sized and mahogany from top to back, the Tanglewood TW4CEAVB is a super folk guitar for players who find a dreadnought too bulky but still want a full sound. It adds a cutaway and Premium Plus electronics, making it a handy electro acoustic guitar for home, rehearsals and small gigs, at £449.

Comfort first

The super folk body is slimmer at the waist and less deep than a dreadnought, so it tucks under your arm and sits well when you play seated. It still has enough size to give you real volume. The cutaway clears space on the treble side so you can reach the upper frets of the Techwood fingerboard.

A solid mahogany voice

The top is solid mahogany, with mahogany back and sides. Mahogany gives a warm, woody tone with a strong midrange and gentle highs. Compared with a spruce top it sounds less sparkly and more intimate, which many players love for fingerpicking, blues and singer-songwriter material. Strummed chords come across smooth and even, with no harsh edge.

• Solid mahogany top with mahogany back and sides
• Super folk body that is easy to hold
• Cutaway for the higher frets
• Tanglewood Premium Plus EQ
• Autumn Vintage Gloss finish

Finish and pickup

The Autumn Vintage Gloss adds a warm, aged tint over the mahogany and a shine that shows off the grain. For amplified playing, the Tanglewood Premium Plus system gives you EQ on the guitar, so you can tame feedback or add presence before the sound reaches the PA.

The TW4 comes in several looks. The TW4CEBS is Black Shadow, the TW4CEFG Through Green and the TW4CER Through Red, all £449, and there is a left-handed TW4CEAVBLH at £469. If you prefer a brighter, more open sound, compare it with the cedar-topped TW4CENA. Free UK delivery is included.
