Tanglewood TW612CEAVB Winterleaf 12 String Grand Auditorium Cutaway Electro Acoustic Guitar

Big, shimmering chords from a 12-string you can gig

Twelve strings give the Tanglewood TW612CEAVB a shimmering, chorus-rich sound that a six-string cannot match. It is a Winterleaf 12 string electro acoustic guitar with a grand auditorium body, a Venetian cutaway and mahogany top, back and sides, priced at £479.

The 12-string effect

On a standard 12-string the strings are set in pairs. The lower pairs combine a normal string with a thinner one tuned an octave higher, while the top two pairs are tuned in unison. Strum a simple chord and you hear a wide, ringing sound with natural shimmer, which is why the 12-string is a favourite for folk, rock rhythm parts and fingerpicked arpeggios.

Grand auditorium body and mahogany tone

The grand auditorium is a mid-to-large shape with a defined waist. It offers enough volume for confident strumming but stays comfortable to hold, which matters on a 12-string where the neck is wider to fit the extra strings. Mahogany warms up the bright octave strings, so the overall sound is rich rather than glassy. The Venetian cutaway has a rounded horn and lets you reach the upper frets of the Techwood fingerboard.

• 12-string setup for full, layered chords
• Grand auditorium shape that balances volume and comfort
• Tanglewood Premium Plus electronics for stage and studio
• Autumn Vintage Gloss finish

Plugged in

A 12-string produces a lot of top end, so being able to adjust the amplified tone on the guitar is useful. The Premium Plus EQ lets you keep the sparkle without harshness through a PA or into a recording interface.

The TW612CEAVB is the 12-string choice in the Tanglewood Winterleaf range. Pick it if you already play six-string and want a second guitar for big strummed songs, layered recordings or a fuller sound at acoustic gigs. Free UK delivery is included.
