Tanglewood TW4CEFG Winterleaf Super Folk Cutaway Green Electro Acoustic Guitar

A green gloss folk guitar that sounds as good as it looks

Green guitars are hard to find, and this Tanglewood TW4 makes the colour work without looking like a toy. The TW4CEFG is a green electro acoustic guitar in Through Green Gloss, with a solid mahogany top, a compact super folk body and a cutaway, for £449.

The colour

Through Green Gloss is a translucent shade, so the colour sits over the wood rather than hiding it. The result is rich and natural, a long way from a flat painted finish. It is a good pick if you want your guitar to look different at a gig or on video, but still want something that reads as a proper wooden instrument.

• Translucent Through Green Gloss finish
• All-mahogany body with a solid top
• Super folk cutaway shape
• Premium Plus electronics for amplified sets
• Techwood fingerboard

Tone and feel

Mahogany shapes the sound here. The solid top works with mahogany back and sides to give a warm, sweet voice that leans towards the middle frequencies. It flatters fingerpicking and soft strumming, and blues and folk tunes suit it well. You will hear less sparkle than you would from a spruce top, but more body and warmth.

The super folk size is a comfortable middle ground. It is less bulky than a dreadnought, so it feels friendly in your lap, yet it gives a fuller sound than a small travel guitar. With the cutaway, the higher frets are within easy reach.

On stage

Tanglewood Premium Plus electronics are built in, so you can go straight into an amp, PA or audio interface and adjust the EQ from the guitar.

The same model also comes in Black Shadow (TW4CEBS), Through Red (TW4CER) and Autumn Vintage Gloss (TW4CEAVB), all at £449, plus a left-handed TW4CEAVBLH. Pick the TW4CEFG if you want a Tanglewood Winterleaf guitar with real character. Free UK delivery is included.
