Tanglewood TRU4CEAW Reunion Pro Super Folk Cutaway Electro-Acoustic Guitar

Black walnut looks and a solid top for under £400

The Tanglewood TRU4CEAW pairs a solid spruce top with black walnut back and sides in a super folk body. As a cutaway electro acoustic guitar it suits the gigging player or keen improver who wants a solid top, a distinctive look and a reliable pickup without spending a fortune.

A top with two layers of interest

Under the surface is solid spruce, which gives the guitar its clarity and quick response. Over it sits a figured black walnut veneer, so the face of the guitar has a rich, darker grain instead of the usual plain pale spruce. The back and sides are black walnut too, finished in natural satin. Walnut adds warmth and body to the midrange, balancing the brighter spruce for a rounded tone that works for picking and strumming.

Shape and playability

The super folk body is a middle size, with more depth than a parlour yet less bulk than a dreadnought. The cutaway opens up the upper frets for lead playing. An Eboncore fingerboard runs the length of the neck, and the satin finish has a natural, low-sheen feel.

Amplified sound

Tanglewood's Premium Plus EQ system is fitted for plugging in. It lets you shape your tone for an acoustic amp or a PA, so you can adjust quickly when you move from a quiet room to a louder stage.

In the Tanglewood Reunion Pro line-up, the TRU4CEAW sits above the travel-sized TRU2CEAW and suits you if you want a full super folk body with a cutaway and electronics. Left-handed? The same guitar comes as the TRU4CEAWLH. This right-handed model is £399 with free UK delivery.
