Tanglewood TRU4CEAK Reunion Pro Super Folk Cutaway Electro-Acoustic Guitar, Koa

Golden koa grain with a stage-ready pickup

Koa is the wood most people picture when they think of a warm, golden acoustic, and the Tanglewood TRU4CEAK puts it front and centre. This cutaway electro acoustic guitar uses a solid spruce top under a figured koa veneer, with koa back and sides to match.

Why koa

Koa is prized for its looks as much as its sound. The figured veneer on the top shows off rippled, honey-coloured grain, and the same wood wraps around the back and sides. Underneath, the solid spruce top gives a crisp, articulate response, while the koa adds a warm, rounded character. The result is a guitar that looks special on a stand and sounds balanced in your hands.

• Solid spruce top for clarity and response
• Figured koa veneer, back and sides
• Eboncore fingerboard
• Natural satin finish that lets the grain show

Shape, cutaway and feel

The super folk body is a middle size. It has more room than a small parlour, so chords sound full, yet it is less bulky than a dreadnought under your arm. A single cutaway lets your fretting hand reach the top of the neck without a fight, handy if you play melodies or solos higher up.

Electronics for gigs and recording

Tanglewood fits its Premium Plus system, so you can plug into an acoustic amp, a PA or a recording interface and shape the tone from the onboard controls. It suits busking, small venues and practising through headphones via an amp or interface.

If you are weighing up the Tanglewood Reunion Pro super folk models, the TRU4CEAK sits alongside the ebony TRU4CEAE and the santos TRU4CEAS. All three share the solid spruce top, cutaway and pickup. Pick the koa if you want the warmest, most classic looking of the trio, a guitar that will catch the eye of anyone who loves traditional acoustic woods. Delivery anywhere in the UK is free.
