Tanglewood TW4CEBLA Winterleaf Blonde Super Folk Cutaway Electro Acoustic Guitar, Blue Gloss

Deep blue gloss over a warm solid mahogany voice

Blue Gloss is the first thing you notice on the Tanglewood TW4CEBLA, and it is what sets this guitar apart from its red and white Winterleaf Blonde siblings. Underneath the colour is a blue electro acoustic guitar with a solid mahogany top and a cutaway, made for players who want a warm, mellow sound and a guitar that stands out, at £479.

The finish

Most acoustics come in natural wood or sunburst. This one wears a rich blue gloss that catches stage lights and looks just as good on a stand at home. Choose it if you want your instrument to have some personality without giving up a proper tonewood build.

Mahogany from top to back

The top is solid mahogany, and the back and sides are mahogany too. A solid top vibrates more freely than a laminated one, so the guitar opens up and sounds fuller the more you play it. Mahogany gives a warm tone with a strong midrange and soft, rounded highs. That makes it a lovely match for singing, because the guitar sits under your voice instead of fighting it. Strummed chords sound thick and smooth, and fingerpicked patterns come out sweet rather than sharp.

• Solid mahogany top with mahogany back and sides
• Super folk cutaway body that is comfortable seated or standing
• Techwood fingerboard
• Tanglewood Premium Plus electronics with EQ

Playing it live

The super folk shape is a mid-sized body with good volume and a relaxed feel. Its cutaway clears the way to the higher frets for lead lines. When you plug in, the Tanglewood Premium Plus system lets you shape your tone from the side of the guitar, ready for an acoustic amp, a PA or a home recording setup.

The same spec is also offered as the TW4CEBLB in Barossa Red Gloss and the TW4CEBLW in Whitsunday White Gloss, all at the same price, so the choice comes down to which colour you like best. If blue is your colour and you want a warm mahogany voice, this is the one. Free UK delivery is included.
