When to Clean Your Guitar

A simple routine is enough for most players. Wipe the strings and body with a soft cloth after you play, because sweat and dust build up on the strings and shorten their life. When you fit new strings, the neck is clear, so it is the best time to clean the fingerboard.

  • Clean the fingerboard when you restring.
  • Keep the guitar in its bag or case when it is not in use.

Storing Your Guitar

Where you keep a guitar matters as much as what you put on it. Avoid leaving it next to a radiator, in a hot car or in a damp room, because wood reacts to sudden changes in heat and moisture.
