A quick wipe-down for lacquered guitars

Marks show up fast on a glossy guitar. The Tanglewood TLSP3 Golden Polish, part of the Luthiers Secret range, is a guitar polish made to clear them away. It works on electric and acoustic guitars that have a lacquer finish, and it comes in a 100ml bottle.

What you get

The formula lifts off fingerprints and smears along with light dirt on the surface, and it avoids harsh chemicals. It also brings out the look of the finish, so the wood and the build stand out as they should. The bottle is small enough for a case, gig bag or studio shelf, which makes it handy for a touch-up before you play. You can also use it as the last step after a deeper clean.

Check your finish first

This guitar cleaner is not for everything. Keep it away from matt or satin looks, from bare wood with no lacquer, and from older guitars wearing a thin nitrocellulose coat, as it can change how they look or feel. If you are unsure what your guitar has, check before you spray.

Using it properly

• Give the bottle a good shake and work in good light
• Put a little on a dry microfibre cloth, and keep the spray off the guitar itself
• Rub it over the body in small circles
