Tanglewood TW4CESB Winterleaf Super Folk Cutaway Electro Acoustic Guitar, Sunburst

Solid spruce clarity in a classic sunburst

Sunburst gloss and a solid spruce top set the Tanglewood TW4CESB apart in the Winterleaf range. It is a super folk cutaway electro acoustic guitar for players who want a step up in tone and a pickup system that is ready for gigs, at £449.

Solid spruce over mahogany

A solid top is cut from single pieces of wood rather than layered sheets, so it is free to vibrate more. Spruce brings clarity and a quick response, so picked notes sound crisp and strummed chords stay defined. Behind it, mahogany back and sides bring warmth and push the midrange forward, giving a balanced voice that is neither thin nor muddy. It is a classic pairing for good reason: bright detail on top, warmth underneath.

Shape and playability

The super folk body gives you more volume than a small folk guitar without the bulk of a dreadnought, and it sits neatly on your leg. The cutaway clears the way to the upper frets on the Techwood fingerboard, which matters if you take solos or play chord shapes high on the neck.

• Solid spruce top with mahogany back and sides
• Cutaway for easy reach to the top of the neck
• Tanglewood Premium Plus electronics with tone controls
• Sunburst Gloss finish

Sound when plugged in

The Tanglewood Premium Plus system handles the amplified side. Adjustable EQ on the guitar lets you shape your sound for the room, from a quiet café set to a louder stage with a band. It is just as useful for recording straight into an interface.

The Tanglewood Winterleaf range has several super folk models, and this one is the choice if you like a traditional look with a bright, articulate voice. The high gloss sunburst shades from a dark edge into a warm centre and catches the light on stage. If you would prefer a slimmer body and an all-mahogany sound, compare it with the TW4TLCEAVB thinline at the same price. Free UK delivery is included.
