Tanglewood TRU512AE Reunion Pro 12 String Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar, Ebony

Twelve strings, a big body and dark ebony looks

Twelve strings give you that shimmering, chorus-like ring that a six string simply cannot match. The Tanglewood TRU512AE is a 12 string acoustic guitar built on a full dreadnought body, with a solid spruce top and ebony back and sides, ideal for strummers who want a huge, lush sound.

Why a 12 string dreadnought works

The dreadnought is the biggest common acoustic shape, and it suits twelve strings well. The large body gives plenty of volume and low end, so the doubled courses sound full rather than thin. Strum an open chord and the octave strings add sparkle over the top, which is why so many folk and rock players reach for a 12 string when they want a song to sound bigger.

Woods and finish

A solid spruce top drives the sound, with a figured ebony veneer on the face for a dark, eye-catching look. The back and sides are ebony too. Spruce brings clarity and a fast response, which helps keep twelve strings sounding clean, and the ebony body adds warmth. The Eboncore fingerboard and natural satin finish complete the plain, classy look.

• Fit light strings to make chords easier on the fingers
• Allow a little more time for tuning than a six string
• Great for strumming, open chords and riffs
• Acoustic only, with no pickup fitted

Who it suits

This is a purely acoustic instrument with no built-in electronics, so it is best for playing at home, writing songs, jamming with friends or recording with a microphone. If you already own a six string and want a second guitar that sounds completely different, a twelve is one of the most rewarding additions you can make.

Within the Tanglewood Reunion Pro range, most models are mid-sized super folk cutaways with pickups. The TRU512AE takes a different path, giving you a big, unplugged dreadnought with twice the strings. Choose it if your music is built around rich, ringing chords. Delivery across the UK is free.
