Tanglewood TW40 SO HC E Sundance Historic OO Folk Electro-Acoustic Guitar, Heritage Cherry

Deep cherry red on a compact solid-top folk guitar

Heritage Cherry gloss is what sets this version of the Tanglewood TW40 apart, a deep red that gives the Sundance Historic look real warmth. Underneath it is a compact OO body with a solid spruce top and Fishman electronics, making it a folk electro acoustic guitar for players who want vintage style on stage and at home.

The cherry finish

The gloss coat is rich in colour but still lets the grain of the wood read through, so the guitar looks old-school without looking fake. It suits anyone who wants something more striking than a plain natural top. If you prefer a classic shaded look, the TW40SOVSE is the same guitar in Vintage Sunburst Gloss at the same £799.

Small body, solid top

The OO folk shape is smaller than a dreadnought, so it sits close to your body and is easy to play for long sets or seated practice. A solid Sitka spruce top gives a crisp, lively attack and opens up as you dig in. Mahogany back and sides fill in a warm midrange with a gentle natural compression, so notes blend smoothly when you strum and stay articulate when you fingerpick.

• Solid Sitka spruce top over mahogany back and sides
• Laurel fingerboard
• Fishman Presys preamp with onboard controls
• Heritage Cherry gloss finish

Plugging in

The Fishman Presys system is a well-proven preamp that carries the acoustic character of the guitar through an amp or a PA. Its onboard controls let you shape the tone quickly for a pub gig, an open mic night or a recording session, and the sound stays honest to what you hear unplugged.

Choose this TW40 if you want a comfortable, solid-topped folk guitar that looks as good as it sounds. It sits in the Tanglewood Sundance Historic range alongside larger orchestra and dreadnought models if you need more volume. Delivery is free in the UK.
