Tanglewood TWX6CEK Winterleaf Exotic Koa Grand Auditorium Electro-Acoustic Guitar

Koa and autumn burst on a cutaway Grand Auditorium

Koa is the star of the Tanglewood TWX6CEK. This Winterleaf Exotic guitar pairs a koa veneer and koa back and sides with a solid mahogany top, all in an autumn burst gloss finish. It is an electro acoustic guitar for players who want something that stands out on a stand or on stage.

At £549 it sits in the middle of the Winterleaf Exotic line up. You get an exotic wood body, a solid top and onboard electronics ready for use from day one, so there is nothing extra to buy before you can play through an amp. It is a guitar that rewards players who like to look at their instrument as much as listen to it, and the burst finish has plenty of depth when the light hits the grain.

What koa brings

Koa has a reputation for a bright, clear voice with a touch of sparkle. Under that, the solid mahogany top keeps the sound rounded and warm in the middle. Together you get a balanced guitar that stays clear when you pick and holds together when you strum hard.

Shape and feel

The Grand Auditorium body is a comfortable all rounder. It has a slim waist for easy holding and enough volume to carry a song. The Venetian cutaway gives you proper access to the top of the neck. The fingerboard is Eboncore.

Amplified sound

The Tanglewood Premium Plus system gives you volume and tone control and a built-in tuner. It is designed to carry the acoustic character through to the speaker, so you are not fighting the sound of the guitar once it is plugged in.

• Solid mahogany top with koa veneer
• Koa back and sides
• Eboncore fingerboard
• Autumn burst gloss finish

The warm, reddish burst sets this one apart from the TWX6CEBW and TWX6CEPW, which are both finished natural gloss. If you want the livelier, brighter character of koa and a more colourful guitar, this is the one to look at in the Winterleaf Exotic range.
