Tanglewood TWX6CEBW Winterleaf Exotic Grand Auditorium Electro-Acoustic Guitar

Black walnut looks with a warm mahogany voice

The Tanglewood TWX6CEBW is a Grand Auditorium electro acoustic guitar from the Winterleaf Exotic range. It suits players who want a handsome, comfortable cutaway that works just as well plugged in as it does in the living room.

Woods and sound

The top is solid mahogany with a black walnut veneer, so you get the warm midrange of mahogany with figured walnut grain on show. The back and sides are black walnut. The result is a balanced, even voice that suits strumming behind a singer and picked parts alike.

The Grand Auditorium shape sits between a small folk body and a full dreadnought. It is comfortable to hold and has enough projection for most jobs.

Playing it

The Venetian cutaway opens up the upper frets, which helps if you like to solo or play melody lines high on the neck. The fingerboard is Eboncore, a dense, smooth material that feels pleasant under the fingers.

Plugged in

Tanglewood Premium Plus electronics are fitted, so the guitar is ready for a PA, an acoustic amp or a recording interface. The system aims to keep the natural tone of the guitar and includes a built-in tuner for quick checks on stage.

Looks

The natural gloss finish shows the walnut grain clearly. Every guitar will look a little different, which is part of the appeal of an exotic wood model.

If you like the shape but fancy a different look, compare it with the TWX6CEK in koa or the TWX6CEPW in Pacific walnut. Both use the same body and electronics. Choose the TWX6CEBW if you want the darker, richer grain of black walnut.
