Tanglewood TWCRDCE Crossroads Dreadnought Cutaway Electro-Acoustic Guitar

Dreadnought power with room to solo

The Tanglewood TWCRDCE is a full-size dreadnought with a scooped cutaway and a pickup system built in, so it covers strumming at home and playing through an amp at a gig. If you want a cutaway electro acoustic guitar that sounds big and still reaches the high frets, this Crossroads model sits at a friendly £199.

Big body, open upper frets

A dreadnought is the shape most players picture when they think of an acoustic. It gives you volume and a solid bass end for rhythm parts. The cutaway trims away the upper bout on the treble side, so your fretting hand can travel past the body join for solos, melody lines and chord shapes further up the neck. You keep the punch of the big body and gain the reach.

All-mahogany voice

Top, back and sides are all mahogany. That wood tends to sound warm and rounded rather than bright, with a smooth midrange that sits well under a voice. Notes hang on nicely, and the response stays even from the low E to the top strings. The fingerboard is Eboncore, and the Whiskey Burst Satin finish gives the guitar a shaded look with a low-sheen feel under your arm.

Plugging in with TEQ MX

Tanglewood's TEQ MX system handles amplified playing. It keeps tone shaping simple, so you can get a natural sound out of a small practice amp, a busking amp or a venue PA without fuss.

• Cutaway gives clear access to the higher frets
• Onboard TEQ MX electronics for amps and PA systems
• Mahogany top, back and sides for a warm, even tone
• Satin finish with a soft, low-gloss feel

If you rarely play above the 12th fret, the TWCRDE gives you the same wood, finish, electronics and price without the cutaway. Choose the TWCRDCE if lead lines, fills and capo work high on the neck are part of how you play. As a first gigging guitar from the tanglewood crossroads range, it is a sensible all-rounder, and we deliver it free in the UK.
