Tanglewood TW7ABCENA Winterleaf Super Jumbo Cutaway Electro Acoustic Bass Guitar

A big-bodied acoustic bass with stage-ready electronics

Bass players who want an unplugged voice with real depth should look at the Tanglewood TW7ABCENA. This Winterleaf electro acoustic bass guitar has a super jumbo cutaway body, a solid spruce top and mahogany back and sides, with Tanglewood Premium Plus electronics fitted. It costs £499.

Why a super jumbo body

Low notes need air to move, and an acoustic bass relies on its body to produce them. The super jumbo shape is about as large as acoustic bodies get, so the TW7ABCENA has the size to project its lowest notes when you play it without an amp. That makes it a sensible choice for acoustic jams, rehearsals with acoustic guitars and unplugged sets.

Tonewoods and tone

The solid spruce top gives quick response and clear note definition, which helps a bass line cut through rather than turn to mush. Mahogany back and sides add warmth and roundness. Together they produce a full, woody bass tone with a solid middle that sits well with acoustic guitars and voices.

• Solid spruce top for clarity and punch
• Cutaway for easier access to the higher frets
• Premium Plus EQ with a built-in tuner
• Natural Gloss finish that shows off the spruce

On stage

For bigger rooms, the Premium Plus system takes over. You can set your amplified tone from the onboard controls and plug into a bass amp, a PA or an interface. The built-in tuner is a handy extra, so you can check your tuning between songs without a pedal or clip-on.

The Natural Gloss finish keeps the look classic and lets the pale spruce and darker mahogany contrast. If you play electric bass and want an acoustic option for quieter gigs, or you are a guitarist who wants to add bass parts to home recordings, the TW7ABCENA gives you a proper acoustic bass sound from the Tanglewood Winterleaf range. Free UK delivery comes as standard.
