Tanglewood TE4CEBL Elemental Super Folk Cutaway Electro Acoustic Guitar

Plug in and play with a solid mahogany top

If you want a cutaway electro acoustic guitar that sounds good before you plug it in, the Tanglewood TE4CEBL is worth a look. It is a super folk cutaway from the Elemental series, with a solid mahogany top and onboard electronics. It suits players who gig, jam or record and want one guitar for all of it.

Amplified sound

The Tanglewood RE-02 system handles the amplified side. It gives you tone controls on the guitar, so you can adjust the sound for the room without hunting for an outboard box. That makes it easy to move from a quiet practice space to a stage with a PA.

Mahogany tone

The top is solid mahogany, and the back and sides are mahogany too. The result is a warm, rounded voice with a firm midrange. It works for strummed songs and for fingerstyle, and a solid top will usually keep opening up as you play it.

Cutaway and shape

The super folk body is compact, with a bit more depth than a standard folk shape. The cutaway gives your fretting hand easier access to the upper frets, which helps if you play lead lines or solos. The fingerboard is Eboncore, and the natural satin finish feels smooth and not slippery.

• Super Folk Cutaway body shape
• Solid mahogany top, mahogany back and sides
• Tanglewood RE-02 electronics
• Eboncore fingerboard
• Blue and white pearl rosette

At £349 it sits at the upper end of the Elemental range, and the extra cost pays for the pickup and the cutaway. If you never plan to plug in, a non-electro model in the same series will save you some money. If you do plan to play out, this is a very practical solid wood electro acoustic guitar to build a set around.
