Tanglewood TW45HSRE Heritage Super Folk Cutaway Electro Acoustic Guitar, Solid Spruce and Rosewood

Rosewood richness in a body that is easy to hold

A smaller body does not have to mean a smaller sound. The Tanglewood TW45HSRE puts solid spruce and solid rosewood into a super folk cutaway, then adds Fishman electronics. It is a solid top electro acoustic guitar for fingerstyle players, singer-songwriters and performers who find a dreadnought too bulky, priced at £1,499.

Comfort first

The super folk shape has a narrower waist and a more compact body than a dreadnought. It sits closer to you, your strumming arm rests more naturally, and long sets are easier on your shoulder. The cutaway lets your fretting hand travel right up the ebony fingerboard for melodies, harmonics and chord voicings high on the neck.

• Super folk cutaway body, compact and comfortable
• Solid spruce top with solid rosewood back and sides
• Ebony fingerboard
• Fishman Presys Blend electronics

How it sounds

The solid spruce top is responsive and clear, so delicate fingerpicking comes through with detail. Solid rosewood back and sides add a deep, dark low end, sparkle on top and long sustain. In a body this size, that gives you a balanced, rich tone where bass, mids and treble all sit evenly. It records beautifully and stays clear when you play with other instruments.

Plugged in

The Fishman Presys Blend preamp is built into the side of the guitar with EQ controls close to hand. You can shape the tone for a small venue PA or an acoustic amp without needing extra pedals, and it is designed to keep the natural voice of the guitar intact.

This is the super folk choice in the Tanglewood Heritage series. If you want more volume and bass for heavy strumming, the dreadnought models in the range will suit you better. If comfort and detail matter most, and you like the rich voice of rosewood, the TW45HSRE is the guitar to go for. The Natural Gloss finish shows off the grain, and we deliver free across the UK.
