The Tanglewood TW1000HSRCE sits at the top of the Tanglewood Heritage series, built with solid woods throughout and fitted with a cutaway and Fishman electronics. It is a dreadnought electro acoustic guitar for experienced players who gig, record or simply want a big, rich sound at home, and it costs £1,499.

Solid tonewoods, big voice

The top is solid spruce, and the back and sides are solid mahogany. With every main part of the body made from solid timber, the whole guitar resonates together, giving you more volume, sustain and detail than a laminated build. Spruce keeps the sound clear and lively, picking up small changes in your touch. Mahogany fills in the midrange with warmth, so heavy strumming sounds full but never harsh. The large dreadnought body adds low end and power, which helps when you are playing with other musicians.

Neck and playability

An ebony fingerboard is smooth, dense and hard wearing, and it gives each note a crisp start. The cutaway opens up the upper frets, which is a real help on a body this size, where the neck joint would otherwise get in the way of lead playing.
