Tanglewood TA4CEGR Azure Super Folk Cutaway Electro-Acoustic Guitar, Green Gloss

Green gloss, quilted ash and a pickup built in

Green is the colour that sets the Tanglewood TA4CEGR apart. It is a cutaway electro acoustic guitar with a super folk body, aimed at players who want something a little different from the usual sunburst and natural finishes.

What the green finish does

The through green gloss is a deep, even colour, and the quilted ash top shows through it with a rippled pattern. No two tops look quite the same. If you want your guitar to be noticed, this is the one in the Azure group that does it without being loud.

Tonewoods

Quilted ash on top and maple for the back and sides make a bright pairing. You get a clear attack and a lively, open response, which works well for strummed rhythm parts and for picked lines that need to cut through. Players who like a darker voice may prefer to try a mahogany guitar elsewhere in the range, but for clarity this build delivers.

Neck, shape and electronics

The super folk shape is smaller than a dreadnought, so it sits comfortably on the knee. The cutaway opens up the higher frets, and the Eboncore fingerboard gives a smooth feel when you slide between positions. Tanglewood Premium Plus electronics are fitted, which means the guitar is ready for a mixer or an acoustic amp.

Choosing your colour

The Azure guitar is the same instrument in every colour. If green is not your pick, look at the blue TA4CEBL, grey TA4CEGY, honey TA4CEHN, purple TA4CEPU or red TA4CERD, all £299. The left-handed TA4CEHNLH is £309. Free UK delivery applies to the lot.

Living with it

A guitar like this earns its keep at home as well as on stage. The smaller body is easy to pick up for a quick practice, and the built-in electronics mean you never need a separate pickup if you decide to join a jam or record a demo. Keep it in a case or on a stand and the gloss wipes clean with a soft cloth.
