Tanglewood TM4CE Metropolitan Super Folk Cutaway Electro-Acoustic Guitar

A compact koa cutaway that plugs straight in

The Tanglewood TM4CE is a super folk cutaway from the Metropolitan range, and it makes a practical electro acoustic guitar for players who want something comfortable that is ready for the stage. The body is compact, so it sits close and feels easy to hold for long sessions.

Koa and spruce, built to last

The top is spruce and the back and sides are koa. All three are high pressure laminate (HPL), a material that shrugs off changes in temperature and humidity. That makes this guitar a sensible choice if you carry it from house to van to venue. The spruce side gives a bright, focused attack, while the koa adds warmth in the midrange. If you like the tidy voice of a smaller body, the super folk shape suits fingerstyle and lighter strumming well.

Cutaway and neck

The Venetian cutaway opens up the top end of the ebony fingerboard, so solos and higher chord shapes are easier to reach. Ebony feels smooth under the fingers and keeps its edge for years of use.

Plugging in

Onboard is the Tanglewood TEQ-G3 system. It gives you simple tone controls so you can shape the sound at rehearsal, on stage or when recording at home without fuss. The natural satin finish shows off the koa grain and has a smooth, low-gloss feel that avoids harsh reflections under lights.

• Super folk cutaway body, compact and comfortable

If you want the same Metropolitan build in a slightly larger auditorium body, compare it with the TM6CE. If you prefer a shape with more bass punch and no cutaway, the TM5 is the dreadnought in this series. The TM4CE is the one to pick when you want a smaller guitar with a cutaway and a preamp, at a price that keeps the budget in check. It arrives with free UK delivery, so the price you see at £229.00 is what you pay.
