Tanglewood TWBBSFCELH Blackbird Left-Handed Super Folk Cutaway Electro-Acoustic Guitar

A left-handed electro acoustic that is not an afterthought

Left-handed players often have to settle for whatever is in stock. The Tanglewood TWBBSFCELH is a left handed electro acoustic guitar built the right way round, with a cutaway, onboard electronics and a Smokestack Black Satin finish. You can pick it up and play without restringing a right-handed guitar.

What is different here

This is the left-handed version of the TWBBSFCE. The spec is the same, but the body and neck are made for lefties, so the cutaway sits where your fretting hand needs it. The price is £239, which is £10 more than the right-handed model.

Tone

Top, back and sides are all mahogany. Expect a warm voice with a firm midrange and clear treble. It works for rhythm playing and for picked melodies. The fingerboard is engineered wood.

Plugging in

The Tanglewood Premium Plus system is fitted. You get tone control through an amp or PA, which helps when you move between a quiet room and a louder gig.

Why it matters to lefties

Flipping a right-handed guitar upside down usually means the controls end up in the wrong place and the cutaway is on the wrong side. Here the layout is correct for you. The electronics, the cutaway and the neck are all where a left-handed player expects them. That makes it easier to learn on and more comfortable for long sessions. It is a sound pick for a beginner, a returning player or a gigging lefty who wants a spare guitar with a pickup.
