Tanglewood TWT15E Tiare Cutaway Tenor Electro-Acoustic Ukulele

A plug-in walnut tenor with easy access up the neck

The Tanglewood TWT15E is a cutaway tenor ukulele with onboard electronics, made for players who want to move from the sofa to the stage with one instrument. If you are looking for an electro acoustic tenor ukulele with a bit more body than a concert size, this is a strong place to start.

Pacific walnut tone

The top, back and sides are all Pacific walnut. That gives a warm sound with bright highs and a firm middle. Chords sound full, and single notes stay defined when you pick out a melody. The tenor body adds volume and sustain, and Aquila Nylgut strings keep the feel smooth and the tuning steady.

Cutaway and electronics

The cutaway lets your fretting hand reach the upper frets without fighting the body. That matters if you like to play lead lines or solos higher up the neck. The TEQ-TUT electronics let you plug straight into an amp or PA, so the natural walnut voice carries into a room or onto a recording.

Neck and finish

The slim mahogany neck carries an Eboncore fingerboard and chrome die-cast tuners. A natural satin finish shows off the grain of the walnut, and a laser-cut Tiare rosette frames the soundhole.

• Cutaway tenor body for upper fret access
• TEQ-TUT electronics for amps and PAs
• Pacific walnut top, back and sides
• Natural satin finish

Compare it with the TWT19 if you want a different wood at a lower price, or look at the eight-string TWT32E if you want a shimmering doubled-course sound with electronics. For a straightforward amplified tenor with a cutaway, the TWT15E is the one to try. It suits songwriters, gigging players and anyone who wants a ukulele that works equally well unplugged and plugged in.
