Tanglewood NSP1SC Northstar Pro Double Cutaway Humbucker Electric Guitar, Sienna Copper

Metallic copper looks with twin humbucker power

Say hello to the Tanglewood NSP1SC, a double cutaway electric guitar in Metallic Sienna Copper Gloss. It has two ceramic humbuckers, a poplar body and a rosewood fingerboard. At £199 it gives you plenty of tone and a distinctive finish for your money.

Why the finish matters

Copper is not a colour you see on every guitar. The metallic gloss shifts between brown and orange as the light moves, so it looks different from every angle. If the grey of the NSP1CF or the red of the NSP1MC is too expected, this is the one that stands out.

Pickups and sound

Two ceramic humbuckers mean strong output and little noise. They handle crunchy rhythm parts and long sustained leads, and they hold together under heavy gain. At lower gain you can still get a rich, warm clean sound. That range makes the guitar useful across rock, metal, alternative and blues.

Neck and construction

The neck is torrefied maple. The roasting process helps the wood stay stable, and a Roseacer stripe runs along the back. The rosewood fingerboard feels smooth. The poplar body has a double cutaway, which keeps the upper frets within easy reach. Chrome die cast machine heads complete the build.

The shape is easy to live with. The body is light enough to wear for a full rehearsal, and the controls are simple to use. It makes a good first electric for a rock player, and it is a decent second guitar for anyone who already owns a single coil model and wants something heavier.
