Tanglewood NSP3BL Northstar Pro Double Cutaway Electric Guitar, Blue Gloss

Blue flame maple and a pair of humbuckers

The Tanglewood NSP3BL is a double cutaway electric guitar with an arched top, finished in blue gloss. It has two humbuckers, so it suits players who want a thick, strong tone for rock and blues. If you want a blue electric guitar with a bit of visual drama, start here.

Looks and finish

A flame maple veneer sits on the poplar body. The blue gloss is transparent, so the figure shows through in swirls of lighter and darker colour. Chrome die cast machine heads keep the look clean.

Neck and playing feel

The neck is maple and the fingerboard is rosewood. Rosewood feels warm under the fingers and suits both chords and solos. The double cutaway lets you reach the upper frets without effort.

Electronics

Two humbuckers give you the classic twin pickup layout of the Northstar Pro range. They cut through hum and give a full voice with plenty of sustain, and they work well with gain.

• Poplar body with flame maple veneer
• Arched top, double cutaway
• Maple neck, rosewood fingerboard
• 2 x humbuckers

Who it suits

This guitar is for players who want a more dressed up look than a plain slab body, without paying a premium price. The arched top feels good against the forearm, and the double cutaway keeps the body compact. If you play in a covers band, or you like to switch between clean rhythm and heavier lead work, two humbuckers give you plenty of range. Roll back the volume for a gentler tone, or turn it up and let the pickups push your amp.

Compare the finishes

The same guitar is available as the NSP3HCB in Heritage Cherry Sunburst Gloss and the NSP3TS in Tobacco Sunburst Gloss, both £299. Choose the NSP3BL for a modern, cooler colour.
