Tanglewood NL1BK Northstar Littlestar Mini Electric Guitar, Solid Black

A small black electric guitar that looks the part

The Tanglewood NL1BK is a mini electric guitar in solid black. It is part of the Northstar Littlestar series, and it brings the look of a full size Northstar to a body that is easier for younger players and beginners to handle. If you want a black electric guitar that is also light and portable, start here.

Built for smaller hands

The scale length is 580mm, shorter than a regular electric. Frets sit closer together, so chords come easier and practice sessions last longer. The double cutaway body, made of poplar, gives access to the top of the neck. The neck is maple with a Roseacer stripe and the fingerboard is laurel.

Sound and hardware

Three ceramic single coil pickups give the bright, clear tones that suit pop, rock and blues. Chrome die cast machine heads hold the tuning in place.

Black finish

The solid black finish suits any style and looks serious next to a full size guitar. It does not look like a toy.

Good for learning

A guitar that is comfortable gets played more. The light weight means a young player can hold it for a full lesson without tiring, and the neat size fits a child or a smaller adult. Because it is an electric, the strings are light and easy to press down, which keeps early practice enjoyable.

• 580mm short scale length
• Poplar double cutaway body
• Laurel fingerboard
• 3 single coil pickups

It also works as a travel guitar for adults. If you prefer a warmer colour, the same guitar comes in Morello Cherry as the NL1MC at the same price. You will need an amp and a lead to play it, and delivery is free across the UK.
