Tanglewood EMD4 Dominar Parlour Solid Cedar Top Classical Guitar

A compact parlour classical with a solid cedar top

Small body, solid cedar top: that sums up the Tanglewood EMD4, a parlour classical guitar. The smaller body makes it easy to hold and carry, while the solid cedar top gives the sound of a proper nylon string guitar. It is a good choice for songwriting, for small hands, or for anyone who wants a classical guitar to keep on the sofa.

Small body, real tone

Parlour guitars are more compact than a full size classical. That makes them comfortable on the lap and quick to pick up. The solid cedar top gives a warm, mellow voice with plenty of sustain, and the walnut back and sides keep the sound balanced and clear. It suits fingerstyle pieces and quiet, expressive playing.

Finish and build

A natural gloss finish shows the grain of the woods and gives a smooth, polished surface. The fingerboard is walnut stained. There are no electronics, so this guitar is made for acoustic playing at home, in lessons or in a small room.

Nylon strings are gentle on the fingertips and give a soft, rounded attack. The shorter body also puts the neck within easy reach, so it is comfortable for younger players, travellers and anyone who plays seated for long stretches. It stays light enough to carry from room to room.

• Parlour classical body, compact and light
• Solid cedar top
• Walnut back and sides
• Natural gloss finish

If you prefer the room and projection of a larger body, the EMD3 has the same woods and finish in a full size shape, also at £349. Both are part of the Enredo Madera Dominar range. For a spanish guitar feel in a smaller package, the EMD4 is the one to try.
