Tanglewood EMDC8CG Dominar Thinline Electro Classical Guitar, Cognac Gloss

Warm cognac colour on a stage-ready nylon string guitar

What sets the Tanglewood EMDC8CG apart is its colour. Where the EMDC8BK is black, this one comes in Through Cognac Gloss, a rich amber-brown that lets the flame mahogany veneer glow. It is a full size thinline electro acoustic classical guitar with nylon strings and built-in electronics.

Finish and looks

The cognac gloss runs through the body and shines under stage lights. It looks warmer and more traditional than a black guitar, while the thinline shape keeps things modern. The fingerboard is walnut stained.

Sound and comfort

The top is a flame mahogany veneer and the back and sides are mahogany. Expect a smooth, balanced tone with a pronounced midrange, which flatters fingerstyle and gentle strumming alike. The thinline body is shallower than a standard classical, so it sits comfortably against you and is kinder to feedback through a PA.

Electronics

The guitar carries B-Band MTC EQ electronics. You can adjust your tone on the instrument, plug in for a performance or record direct. That makes it a flexible choice for players who move between the practice room, the studio and the stage.

Nylon strings are gentle on the fingertips and give a soft, rounded attack. With the wide classical neck, it is easy to play for long sessions.

• Full size thinline classical body
• Mahogany veneer top with mahogany back and sides
• B-Band MTC EQ electronics
• Through Cognac Gloss finish

Choose this one if you like the look of natural, warm tones. The EMDC8BK offers the same specification in Through Black Gloss at the same £399 price, so the decision comes down to colour. Players who want a Spanish guitar sound without the amplification can also consider the EMD3 or EMD4.
