Tanglewood EMDC5 Enredo Madera Dominar Cutaway Electro Classical Guitar

Solid cedar, walnut and a cutaway for the upper frets

Solid cedar on top and walnut for the back and sides make the Tanglewood EMDC5 stand apart in the Dominar range. It is a full size cutaway classical guitar with onboard electronics, and it is a strong pick if you want a warmer nylon string sound than spruce usually gives. Searching for a cutaway classical guitar that plugs in? This one fits.

Cedar and walnut tone

A solid cedar top tends to sound soft and rich, with a quick response to a light touch. The walnut back and sides keep the sound full without muddying it. Expect a darker, rounder voice that suits classical and flamenco style pieces as well as relaxed fingerstyle.

Cutaway and playability

The cutaway removes part of the body on the treble side, so your hand can reach the higher frets with less strain. If you play melodies up the neck or take solos, you will notice it. The fingerboard is walnut stained, and the finish is natural gloss.

Amplified sound

Tanglewood Premium Plus electronics are built in. They let you plug straight into an amp or PA and adjust the tone on the guitar itself.

Who it suits

This is a good fit for players who already know classical technique and want something a little different from the usual spruce and rosewood recipe. Nylon strings keep the feel gentle on your fingertips, and the full size body gives the familiar scale length and string spacing. It works at home, in a studio or on a small stage.

• Full size classical with cutaway
• Solid cedar top
• Walnut back and sides
• Tanglewood Premium Plus electronics

Compare it with the EMDC6 if you would rather have a solid spruce top and mahogany for a brighter, more focused voice. Players who like a mellow tone and want easy access to the top of the neck will find the EMDC5 the better match.
