Tanglewood EMDC7 Enredo Madera Dominar Cedar Top Thinline Classical Guitar

Cedar, sapele and rosewood in a slim, amplified body

The Tanglewood EMDC7 pairs a cedar top with sapele back and sides in a thinline full size body. It is the only guitar in this batch with a rosewood fingerboard, and it costs £299. If you want a thinline classical guitar with a mellow tone and a pickup already fitted, it is worth a look.

A warmer, darker voice

Cedar gives a soft, round sound that responds easily to a gentle touch. Sapele on the back and sides adds definition and a little extra punch. The result is a tone that suits classical, flamenco style and fingerstyle playing, with sustain that lets notes sing.

Neck and body

The shallow thinline body makes the guitar light and easy to hold, which helps on long practice days. The rosewood fingerboard is smooth under the fingers. The natural gloss finish adds a polished look and shows off the cedar.

Plugged in

Tanglewood TEQ MX electronics are fitted. Connect to an amp or PA and the guitar keeps its character, with onboard tone control for different rooms.

Who it suits

This guitar is a practical choice for students and returning players who want a comfortable nylon string guitar without paying for a premium model. Rosewood on the fingerboard is a familiar feel for anyone used to traditional classicals. You can practise quietly at home, then plug in for a gig or lesson recital without changing guitars.

Look at the EMDC1 for the same price with a spruce top and mahogany for a brighter sound, or the EMDC5 if you want a solid cedar top with a cutaway. The EMDC7 suits players who like a mellow tone at an easy price.
