Tanglewood EMDC6 Enredo Madera Dominar Solid Spruce Top Electro Classical Guitar

The top of the Dominar range, with a solid spruce top

At £499, the Tanglewood EMDC6 is the most expensive guitar in this group of Dominar classicals, and the solid spruce top is the main reason. It is a full size electro classical guitar for players who want a clear, projecting nylon string sound and a pickup for gigs. If you are choosing a classical guitar to keep for years, it deserves a close look.

Solid spruce and mahogany

A solid top vibrates freely and tends to open up as the guitar is played. Spruce gives a crisp, focused note across the range. The mahogany back and sides add warmth and sustain, so single notes ring on and chords sound full. It handles quiet fingerpicking and firmer strumming equally well.

Looks and feel

The natural gloss finish shows off the grain. The fingerboard is walnut stained. The body is a standard full size classical shape, so it sits the traditional way on your knee.

Electronics

Tanglewood TEQ MX electronics are fitted. Plug in at a gig, in a rehearsal or when recording, and use the controls to set the tone you want.

Who it suits

Choose this guitar if you play often and want an instrument that rewards good technique. The solid top responds to small changes in touch, so you can shape phrases with your fingertips. Nylon strings keep it comfortable, and the pickup means you do not need a separate microphone when you perform for an audience.

The EMDC5 uses a solid cedar top and a cutaway if you want a warmer voice and easier upper fret access. Choose the EMDC6 if bright, clear projection matters most and you like the traditional shape.
