Tanglewood NS1IS Northstar Double Cutaway Electric Guitar, Inca Silver Gloss

Inca silver gloss with a bright single coil sound

Silver stands out in a line of dark guitars, and the Tanglewood NS1IS makes the most of it. This grey electric guitar has an inca silver gloss finish on a poplar double cutaway body, fitted with three single coil pickups for a clear, lively sound.

Looks and shape

The inca silver gloss gives a clean, modern look. Underneath, the poplar body is balanced and not heavy, and the double cutaway opens up the higher frets so you can play right up the neck.

Playing feel

The neck is maple with a Roseacer stripe, paired with a caramel maple fingerboard. It feels smooth and consistent, and the chrome die cast machine heads keep each string where you tune it.

Pickups

Three ceramic single coils give a sparkling clean sound that suits rhythm work. Turn up the gain and they move towards a grittier lead tone.

Who it suits

Choose this one if you want a guitar with a lighter, cleaner appearance than the darker finishes. It suits learners who want a simple three pickup layout to get to grips with, and it works equally well as a bright second guitar for experienced players. The body is comfortable seated or standing, and the controls are simple enough to understand in a single sitting. Silver also looks sharp in photos and on video if you share your playing online.

Note that the NS1ISH is also finished in inca silver gloss, but it has a different pickup layout. Choose the NS1IS if you want all three pickups to be single coils, and compare the NS1VW if you would like a lighter colour.
